About this Activity
Ottery St Mary’s long standing November 5th tradition, where flaming tar barrels are carried through the streets as part of the town’s annual Carnival and bonfire celebrations. The day begins with the children’s barrels from around 4:00pm, with the main evening barrels starting from 7:00pm.

A thrilling and absolutely unforgettable Devon tradition. The afternoon features junior barrels carried by local youth, which is much more manageable for families with older children to watch.
💡 Good to Know
It gets incredibly crowded, smoky, and loud. It is strictly not suitable for pushchairs, toddlers, or pets. Road closures are extensive, so plan transport and parking well in advance.
